Discover the Natural Talent Within You:
Watermedia by Edward Minchin
Workshop dates: June 6-10, 2005

There will be two demonstrations each day, one realistic starting from a thumbnail approach, the second will be a semi-abstract or abstract moving from the use of transparent watercolor into acrylics and other mediums. Ted will help the student find and keep the inspiration alive on a daily basis. Also the students will be encouraged to set reachable goals towards their painting career. Ted's paintings lean toward the semi-abstract but the subject matter is identifiable. He works in transparent watercolor, as well as in opaque and transparent acrylic. His greatest focus rests in strong design, with liberal use of inventive color. He is a firm believer in helping the students discover for themselves the wonderful natural talent each has within.

Ted teaches a variety of approaches to help you paint more freely. His first approach is a step by step controlled approach to loose realistic transparent watercolor paintings, working to establish dominant simple shapes that give the artist a strong basis from which to work. He discusses qualities of paint to allow the use of loose, fresh and inventive color while avoiding mud. Ted also teaches direct spontaneous painting which helps break painters block and releases a flood of inspiration. In yet another approach, Ted combines loose abstract work with geometrical lines opening the door for many new exciting directions. You are free to choose one or all the approaches during the workshop.

Ted received his B.A. from St. Martins Art School, London. He is a signature member of the AWS, MWS, KWS, Audubon Artists, and past president of the New England Watercolor Society. You can view more of Ted's work at his website: www.tminchin.com.
